Ewage-Notu notes

  • Note that the verb 'do' in the exemplary paradigms has a zero root.
  • Ewage-Notu illustrates systematic syncretism of 1pl=3pl in subject marking on verbs across several verbal categories.
  • There are many different TAM paradigms, as well as a category of medial verbs, which distinguish between different subject and same subject. Many of these are distinguished by merely by suffixes which proceed the subject markers and do not interact with them. These have been factored out of the analysis.
  • There are no inflectional classes as such, though there are apparently lexical distinctions in the imperative ending: er-i 'stand up' vs p-o 'come' vs mamb-u 'go' vs. gaj-s 'close it'. Unfortunately, there is not enough information in the description to incorporate this into the analysis.
